3 Things I wish everyone knew about Healing

1. Healing doesn’t happen in a straight line

We’re conditioned to bring a linear mindset to our healing—to have one session and heal the problem, or to take a specific pill for a diagnosis and be done, or to outsource our authority to some expert to “fix” it. But the body doesn’t work in a straight line, and no one knows what you need better than you do.

The human body originates from nature, and everything in nature is cyclical—(imagine the seed rooting into the soil, shooting upward into the light for the flower to finally blossom, grow fruit, share its seed and feed back into the soil once again. Or, consider the cycles of seasons each year cycling back around). Often, people come to me saying they’ve "tried everything", (yup, I’ve been there!) and at a certain point, the realisation of the spiral journey of life settles in, asking us to trust in something bigger than ourselves, and surrender to an ancient and natural intelligence - Lifeforce, Prana, Spirit, God, the Universe, the Divine - it’s name does not matter!

Healing (and life itself) is a journey of twists and turns, ultimately leading to a much deeper discovery of yourself, the nature of life and why you are here.

2. Your emotions and physical body are deeply linked

We cannot separate physical ailments from the emotional experience of life. We “feel” constantly, there is no life experience that comes without sensation or an emotional component (unless we push it away - a whole other chapter ;)).

We FEEL more than we EAT! Yet how many of us have ever had any education around this very intelligent feedback system of our emotional realm?! In my work, people’s bodies are almost always bringing the issue (weakness, imbalance, illness, injury or pain) back to some origin point - an experience and emotional process that wasn’t fully resolved. Our bodies are talking to us. Can we look deeper and ask: What is this symptom trying to show me?

There is an emotional language, a conversation with the world around us that is INCREDIBLY RICH with information and soul, and it speaks through the body. I believe as humans are beginning to become more conscious of this language, and that there is emotional mastery available to us, but we must start with the basics. The first basic: like every being, experience, place or force we would offer respect to, each and every emotion (energy in motion) that passes through our being is WORTHY of our acknowledgement. They are not to be battled against, pretended as though they are not there or squished down deep. These energies will persist until recognised.

3. What you focus on, you feed. Life is to LIVE not HEAL.

Each of us have our challenges, and each of us, our blessings. If your problem sneakily starts to become the central focus of your life’s work, notice how your entire energy field and daily life begins orientate around that point? (The same pattern or problem that’s “wrong” with you, the same health issue rearing it’s head, or that shadow aspect you’ve been working on for years?). So I find it worth asking myself: right now, am I feeding my attention and energy to the health, or am I feeding the ill-health?

A doctor can set a broken bone, but the mending of the bones is done by your body. YOU and the generative forces of the Earth are what actually heals you. It is the perfect design of nature and the body that is absorbing the nutrients of the fruit and vegetables, creating the rhythmic beat of your Heart, influencing a balanced metabolic rhythm through daylight (day/night cycles) and removing waste through multiple body systems (sweat, poop, pee and breath!) - your body is doing so without you asking it to. It knows what to do! It knows how to heal!

We must simply get out of the way and remember also, that we are not able to access a true “healing state” when there is activation of the sympathetic nervous system- i.e. STRESS. So ground your mental static, prioritise your wellness, lay in the sun, rest in your Heart and let your body do it’s thing. How can you remove and release the stressors so you can let go, make space and allow healing to happen?
